This two-person exhibition brings together the work of Kat Davis and Megan Driving Hawk, two artists whose practices are deeply rooted in the exploration of memory, identity, and community.

Kat Davis, a photographer and collage artist, delves into the intersection of past and present through the use of found photos and ephemera. As a modern archivist, Davis’ work weaves together fragments of time, creating layered narratives that speak to the fluidity of memory and the way nostalgia both anchors and distorts our sense of self. Their pieces invite us to reflect on how we connect with the past, and how those connections shift with the passage of time.

Megan Driving Hawk, a photographer, writer, and mixed media artist, explores the profound transformation of matrescence—the process of becoming a mother. Her work honors the legacy of her family, her children, and her husband, while also grappling with her own place within these interwoven histories. As she navigates the complexities of motherhood and cultural preservation, Driving Hawk’s practice looks to both the past and the future, seeking to forge a path that honors ancestral ties while carving out new spaces for future generations.

Together, these two artists use the lens of personal and cultural history to create works that honor place, community, and the enduring connections that shape who we are. Through photography, collage, writings, and mixed media, they invite viewers to engage with the complexities of memory, identity, and the ever-evolving stories we carry within us.
